Sophie Poling chats with us in this week's Q&A. (Megan Woodward / Carroll County Times)

How do you work with the other senior captains to be leaders for the team?

"A lot of us, me, Grace [Griffin] and Jess [Cronin], we're all together. We've been on varsity since sophomore year so we've played together a lot and we have a lot of chemistry and we work together with that and use that to guide the younger players also."

Do you think you've grown as a player since sophomore year, and if so, in what ways?

"I think I've matured a lot since I was a sophomore and I've learned this program really well. In the offseason, I've done a lot of work in the our fall and summer leagues so it's prepared me a lot for when I do come into the season and can work with the other players on the team."

In what ways has this team improved since the start of the season?

"We focused a lot on defense because our defense leads to our offense a lot. When we get the steals, we get easy offense and easy offense kind of fuels us and we have momentum — it gets our bench happy and excited."

What song are you currently listening to on repeat, and why?

"I don't know, I kind of change songs every day. 'Seven Years,' it's an old song but it just always comes back into my head, I don't know why."
