The county champion Manchester Valley softball team opened the postseason with a convincing 14-2 win over Brunswick at home on Thursday in a Class 1A West Section 2 quarterfinal.
Jessie Swistock and Jordan Diggs each had three hits, including two triples. Kayla Geho went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, and four RBIs.
The Mavericks (14-5) advance to play at Boonsboro in the section semifinal on Monday at 4:45.
