Local Roundup: Mavericks top Gerstell girls lacrosse

The Manchester Valley girls lacrosse team notched a road win on Thursday, besting Gerstell Academy 17-6.

Lizzie Colson led the Mavericks (3-1) with eight goals and five assists, while Beanie Colson, Lauren Cremen, and Kiely Bunch each scored twice.


Sami Chenoweth anchored the MV defense with an assist, three interceptions, and three caused turnovers. Jillian Wilson scored three goals to lead the Falcons (3-3).

Recap: At Westminster, the Green Terror (19-1) jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. McDaniel set a new program record with its 11th consecutive win.

NC boys 2nd at Fraser Relays

Recap: At Middletown on Wednesday, the Panthers won the distance medley relay (11:48.96) with a foursome of Andrew Jackson, Matt McGuire, Oscar Osuna, and Drew Resh. North Carroll totaled 58.5 points. Century was third with 50 and FSK was seventh with 31. The Knights' winners were Kyle Bryant (pole vault), and Elijah Richardson and Alex Stefanick (tied, high jump).

Century's girls were fifth with 43 points. Madison Reeser won discus for the Knights, while Key's Emma Taggart tied for the high jump title.
