Westminster's boys indoor track team finished second at the Class 3A West Region meet Thursday at the Baltimore Armory, and the Owls qualified their share of athletes for the state meet Feb. 21.
Juniors Zane Lewis and Troy Johnson went 2-4 in the 300-meter dash, and Lewis added a fourth in the 55 dash. Johnson placed third in the 500 dash. Westminster's 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800 relays each came in third as well.
Junior Noah Griffin finished seventh in the 3,200 run, but his time was fast enough to advance to states (the top four in each even get automatic bids, and anyone else who meets the state's advancement of standards).
Westminster totaled 48 points and took runner-up to Oakdale's 99.5.
Manchester Valley was ninth with 28 points, led by senior Sean Dodson's second place in the 500 and third in the 800. Junior Adam Melville took fourth in the high jump while senior Carson Miller was fifth.
Recap: At Eldersburg, the Knights (18-2, 11-0 county) set a program record with 17 made 3-pointers, with five from Zach Tucker (25 points) and four from Adam Rolfes (12). Tucker added six assists, and Chris Norman added 14 points and seven steals. Bo Schene had a team-high 18 points for the Mavericks (8-12, 5-7).

Recap: At Westminster, Shannon Snyder's 3-pointer with 6.7 seconds to sent the game into overtime, and five more points from Snyder in the extra frame helped lift the Falcons (9-11, 7-5 county). Snyder finished with 16 points and Samantha Petela added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Erin Snyder had 11 points and six assists. Addi Hill had five assists and five boards. Grace Griffin went for a game-high 19 points for the Lions (7-13, 5-7) and Jess Cronin scored 14.
Recap: At Westminster, Sydney Popielski's four 3-pointers lifted the Owls (14-6, 9-3 county). She finished withy 16 points and Sara O'Donnell added 14. Zoe Costley had nine rebounds. Bailey Mathias had 16 points for Key (11-8, 5-7) and Heather Rohwein added 15.
