Three South Carroll football players were named to the small school all-state first team on Friday, after the trio helped the Cavaliers win their second straight county championship and make the Class 2A playoffs for the seventh consecutive year.

Running back Steven Baca, offensive lineman Brian Plummer, and safety Silas Kelly were all selected to the team.

Baca, the Times Football Player of the Year, led the county in rushing and scoring, accumulating 1,086 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground. He was also hauled in another 131 yards on 13 receptions.

Plummer helped Baca reach those numbers by anchoring the offensive line at left tackle. The 6-foot-7, 315-pounder is committed to play at the University of Maryland next fall.

Kelly currently has offers from Eastern Michigan, Albany, and Robert Morris.

Several other Carroll players were named to second team and honorable mention.

Manchester Valley linebacker Ethan Bare was the lone Carroll representative on second team. He helped the Mavericks make the 1A playoffs with a team-high 92 tackles.
