If Liberty's softball team wants to get back to the state tournament, Brooke Fowlkes will likely become a big reason why the Lions make the trip.

Liberty's senior shortstop is the Times Athlete of the Week after collecting three hits and five RBIs in the Lions' 9-2 county win over Manchester Valley on Tuesday.

Entering Thursday's game against Boonsboro, Fowlkes led the Lions in batting average (.466), hits (27), RBIs (23), triples (six), and she was tied with sister Taylor for the most home runs (two). She had scored 14 runs to go with five doubles and a .492 on-base percentage, the third best on the team.

Fowlkes' 23 RBIs were also a county high entering play Thursday.

Fowlkes had two hits and scored twice in Liberty's 4-0 win over South Carroll on April 27. She added another hit against Westminster on Monday before driving in five runs, a career high, in the Man Valley game.

Fowlkes had a triple and a home run in that game, her first homer since April 3 against Century.

She's 10-for-17 (.588 average) since going hitless against Glenelg on April 15.

Liberty (10-7, 7-5 county) hosts Roland Park on Friday and visits Williamsport on Monday before focusing on the regional playoffs, which are slated to begin May 11.
