Carroll Varsity Q&A: Francis Scott Key's Joelle Snader. (Megan Woodward / Carroll County Times)

How important is it to hold the team together in your position as the libero?

"It's very important, especially. I play in the middle back so I see everything on the court so I have to communicate what happens and communicate to everyone and kind of hold the team together, not only in the back row but in the front too."

What is your favorite thing about playing that position?

"I love defense, I always have and I love the feeling of passing up a hit and I love setting it up for a good kill."

How old were you when you started playing volleyball and how did you get into it?

"I started in elementary school in a clinic because my dad's friend said something about it and we were really interested in volleyball so my sister and I started doing clinics together."

You guys have a new coach this season and what's the vibe been like on the team so far?

"We're very positive. Coach Serra [Berry] has put a lot into this program and it's a lot better than it has been the past few years and I think we can build a strong program."

What are your future goals after high school?

"I plan to apply to some colleges in the south and attend medical school and go into the medical field."
