Since you are only one of two seniors on the roster, have you had to emerge as a leader?
“Definitely. It’s hard because I am usually a silent leader and lead by example. I have had to come out of my shell more. I had to step up and be more of a role model.”
How is the season going so far?
“The season has been going really well. Coming in with a new coach [Shane Stem], we were a little iffy about it. But he is definitely leading us in the right way and we are in a better position than we were last year. So it’s been a great season.”
Can you talk about the growth you have seen in this team?
“Having only two seniors, it has been difficult trying to coach younger players, but as time has gone on a lot of the juniors and sophomores have stepped up and are playing really well. We will be in a good place next year.”
Do you want to play college basketball and what schools are you interested in?
“I definitely want to play college basketball. There are two schools I am interested in — Eastern Mennonite University (Va.) and Juniata College (Pa.).”
What do you plan on majoring in at college and what do you want to do for a career?
“I want to major in communications and minor in journalism. I want to be a sports journalist because I love sports and I love writing. I would love to put those two together and make a career out of it.”
