Carroll Varsity Roundup: Liberty boys hoops reels off eighth consecutive win

Liberty’s boys basketball team posted its eighth consecutive victory by defeating Franklin 68-54 on Friday night in Eldersburg.

Junior Tristan Kent led the Lions with a big performance — the 6-foot-6 center collected 25 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the county champions, who improved to 19-3. Jack Selby scored 10 points and Connor Stewart added nine.

JV result: Franklin, 57-44.

Century 57, Owings Mills 40

Recap: At Owings Mills, Zach Owings finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, and Azariah Knox netted 11 points for the Knights (15-7). Carter Truby had five assists and five steals.

JV result: Century, 58-40 (C-Noah Riley 32 points, eight 3-pointers).

Winters Mill 59, Hereford 55

Recap: At Parkton, the Falcons won for the first time since their season opener, snapping an 18-game losing skid. Chandler Gentzel scored 24 points and Terren McDonald netted 18 points for WM (2-18).

Girls Basketball

Westminster 49, Dulaney 42

Recap: At Timonium, Zoe Costley scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds to go with three blocks, and Sarah O’Donnell had 12 points and six boards for the Owls (19-1).

JV result: Westminster, 39-29 (W-Emily Davis 10 points).

Linganore 39, Winters Mill 27

Recap: At Westminster, the Falcons (13-9) fell into an 11-0 first quarter hole and couldn’t dig out. Kolby Brown totaled 12 points and six rebounds, and Addi Hill added nine points.

JV result: Linganore, 37-22 (WM-Katelyn Heffner 6 points; team finished 18-3).
