Francis Scott Key’s boys basketball team had four players score in double figures en rote to a 66-51 county victory over host Manchester Valley on Thursday night in Manchester

Noah Vipond and Josh Brown led the Eagles (3-1, 2-0 county) with 20 points apiece, and Anthony Murray collected 12, 11 rebounds, four assists, and seven steals.


Bo Schene’s 23 points paced the Mavericks, who fell to 0-7, 0-3.

JV result: MV, 52-22.


Freshman result: MV won.

Liberty 53, South Carroll 32

Recap: At Winfield, Tristan Kent scored 12 points and had six rebounds, and Connor Stewart added 10 for the Lions (5-1, 2-0 county). Jack Selby added six boards and three assists. Cody Parks netted seven points for the Cavaliers (2-2, 1-1).

JV result: Liberty, 42-41.

Freshman result: Liberty won.

Girls Basketball

Westminster 48, Century 37

Recap: At Eldersburg, Sarah O’Donnell had a game-high 16 points and Sydney Popielski scored nine for the Owls (4-0, 2-0 county). Kelsey Weishaar collected eight points, and three teammates had six points apiece for Century (0-6, 0-2).

JV result: Westminster, 45-18.

South Carroll 55, Liberty 43

Recap: At Eldersburg, Bethany Fowler scored 16 points and Riley Evans added 10 for the Cavaliers (3-3, 1-1 county). Rachel Thiem netted 16 points and Alex Bull scored 12 for Liberty (0-5, 0-2).

JV result: SC won.

Freshman result: Liberty won.


Winters Mill 55, Wilde Lake 18

Recap: At Columbia, the Falcons (4-0) had little trouble with the Wildecats thanks to 15 points and eight rebounds from Kolby Brown, and 12 points from Natalie Berry.


Winters Mill 69, Centennial 12

Recap: At Westminster, Hunter Merson and Hunter Lowe each improved to 13-0 and pinned their opponents for the Falcons (10-0).

Atholton 47, Century 28

Recap: At Columbia, the Knights (0-8) got pins from Stephen Hurst (120), Dylan Fitzgerald (138), Nick Dahl (160), Eli Freas (182), and Brian Steen (195).
