Carroll Christian’s boys basketball team went 2-0 this weekend at the Faith Christian Academy tournament in Martinsburg, West Virginia, taking the championship with a 44-42 victory over rival Mount Airy Christian on Saturday.
Matt Maldonado led the Patriots (5-3) with 18 points and Cameron Wooden scored nine. Carroll beat Faith Christian 65-52 on Friday night and Sean Goldsmith netted a team-high 18 points and Josiah Albaugh scored 13.
Catoctin 70, South Carroll 55

Recap: At Brunswick on Friday, Karla Stonesifer and Savannah Brooks led the Eagles (2-0) with 15 points apiece, and Bailey Mathias added 10.

Recap: At Frederick on Friday, the Owls dropped their opener despite 20 points and 12 rebounds from Zoe Costley. Sophia Diehl had 11 points and six boards.
Wrestling
Century posts 3 wins at Armed Forces Duals
Recap: At Hagerstown, sophomore Carson Fitzgerald (106) went 9-0 with five pins, and senior Billy Bentley (160) had six pins and an 8-1 record. The Knights went 2-2 on Friday, with wins over Georgetown Prep (48-34) and Northwood (72-6). Century beat DeMatha 48-30 but lost four other matches Saturday and finished 3-6.
