Carroll Varsity Roundup: Owls girls soccer headed to 3A West final

Corrie Karas and Emily Bryden each scored goals to give Westminster’s girls soccer team a 2-0 win over visiting Blake in Friday’s Class 3A West Section 1 final at Ruby Field.

Ava Boussy and Elsa Schoberg added assists and the Owls improved to 9-4-3 by advancing to the regional final. Sydney Popielski made three saves in the win.

Westminster travels to Linganore for the 3A West title game Tuesday. The Owls haven’t been to the state tournament since 2004.

Recap: At Manchester, the Mavs (4-6) got three goals from kicker Dayne Koontz, whose third boot came with less than a minute to go in regulation. Kyle Ringley sealed the win with an interception and Man Valley enjoyed a win on Senior Night and the season finale.
