Carroll Varsity Roundup: South Carroll football shuts out Man Valley to end slide

South Carroll's football team blanked Manchester Valley 22-0 on Friday night to snap a four-game losing streak and post its first shutout of the season.

Jacob Snell scored a touchdown in the second quarter to set the tone for the Cavaliers (2-7, 1-4 county). Cole Evans added a touchdown run, and later threw to Dylan Wilson for a 3-yard scoring strike.

Wilson shined on defense with a fumble recovery and a tipped pass that landed in the hands of teammate Mason Gavin for an interception.

Man Valley fell to 3-6, 1-5.

Westminster 30, Salesianum (Del.) 20

Recap: At Westminster, the Owls improved to 8-1 and never lost their lead. Zane Lewis returned a punt for a touchdown and Evan Warren kicked a 26-yard field goal to put the Owls up 17-0. Quarterback Christian Etchison found receiver Roman Hawkins for an 80-yard touchdown in the second half. Jaden Louis also ran in for a 10-yard score on the ground. The Owls fumbled late inside the 20-yard line and the Sallies converted a touchdown on fourth down, but Westminster came away with the win.

Field Hockey

Francis Scott Key 9, Pikesville 0

Round: Class 1A West Section 1 semifinal

Recap: At Uniontown, Hannah Dukes and Makayla Black each scored three goals and the Eagles (8-5) rolled into the sectional final. FSK travels to South Carroll on Monday.

Girls Soccer

Manchester Valley 4, Magruder 1

Round: Class 3A West Section 1 quarterfinal

Recap: At Rockville, Briana Bush scored a goal and added an assist. Jeri Garland, Abby Ziegenfuse and Alyssa Stolarski each added a goal for the Mavericks (6-8-1). All four of the Mavs goals were scored in the first half and they will face Westminster in a 3A West Section 1 semifinal on Tuesday.
