Carroll Varsity Roundup: Mavs, Owls have to wait a day for golf districts

The Class 4A-3A District I golf tournament was rescheduled from Thursday to Friday because of the threat of inclement weather, and the location changed as well.

The tournament is now set for Westminster National Golf Course with a 9 a.m.start time.


Westminster 164, South Carroll 177

Recap: At Westminster National, Cory Campbell’s 38 led the Owls to victory. Aaron Sorkin added a 41. Ryan Stankewicz’s 38 paced the Cavaliers.


Winters Mill 160, Liberty 175

Recap: At River Downs, Ethan Wolbert fired a 39 and Avery Serafin shot 40 for the Falcons. Justin Bartolowits led Liberty with a 41.

Girls Soccer

Century 4, Liberty 0

Recap: At Eldersburg, the Knights (5-3-1, 3-1 county) got a goal and an assist each from Haley Greenwade and Megan Snyder. Caitlin Mulholland collected 14 saves for the Lions (5-4-1, 2-2-1).


Westminster 1, South Carroll 0

Recap: At Winfield, Caroline Zentz scored for the Owls (5-3-1, 2-1-1 county) and Regan Miller added the assist. Paige Abbott made eight saves for SC (6-4-1, 1-2-1).

JV result: Westminster, 4-1.

Winters Mill 3, Francis Scott Key 1

Recap: At Westminster, Kyla Holt had a goal and three assists for the Falcons (3-3-3-, 3-1-1 county). Marina Weller netted a PK goal for the Eagles (2-7, 0-5).

Gerstell 1, Glenelg Country School 0

Recap: At Ellicott City, Natalie Lenartson scored for the Falcons (5-5-2), and Rachel Manning mde nine saves. Gerstell tied Mount de Sales 4-4 on Monday and Gabby Manning converted two penalty kicks for goals.

Boys Soccer

South Carroll 2, Westminster 0

Recap: At Westminster, Carter Chesney and Aidan Sporer each scored goals for the Cavaliers (6-5, 2-3 county). Westminster dropped its third in a row (6-4, 1-2).

JV result: Westminster, 3-0.

Winters Mill 1, Francis Scott Key 0

Recap: At Westminster, Justus Denning’s goal gave the Falcons (7-4, 3-1 county) their second straight win. The Eagles slipped to 3-3-1, 1-3.

Liberty 4, FSK 0

Recap: At Eldersburg on Monday, the Lions (4-5-2, 1-4 county) snapped a four-game losing streak behind two goals from Chimwemwe Chinkuyu.

Field Hockey

Westminster 3, South Carroll 2

Recap: At Westminster, Julia Rogalski had a goal and two assists for the Owls (9-2, 4-1 county). Julia Weiss and Delaney Gass each scored for the Cavs (6-8, 3-3).

North Harford 2, Manchester Valley 1

Recap: At Manchester, Madi Callahan scored for the Mavericks (4-8), but they dropped their fourth in a row. Hannah Yaede made nine saves.

JV result: MV, 3-1.

Liberty 1, Francis Scott Key 0

Recap: At Eldersburg on Tuesday, the Lions (11-2, 5-0 county) got their goal from Kayleigh Ward and an assist from Heidi Ellis. FSK is 6-3, 1-3.
