The Mavericks didn't start the season as coach Tony Shermeyer had hoped.

Williamsport posted a 12-7 victory over visiting Manchester Valley.


Senior Adam Melville returned a kickoff for a touchdown and the linebacker also had an interception for Manchester Valley.

The game was postponed from Friday night to Saturday because of a power outage at Williamsport.

Westminster splits pair in tournament

Recap: At Edgewater, the Owls split a pair of games to open the season in the Seahawk Invitational, routing John Carroll, 10-3, and losing to host South River. Westminster jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead over John Carroll. Senior forward Madi Macera finished with four goals, senior forward Veronica Maring totaled three goals and a assist, and junior forward Haleigh Moore had a goal and five assists. Rachel Rogalski and Gabby Clancy each added a goal. In the loss to South River, Westminster goalie Lauren Jenne stayed busy and made 19 saves. South River's Alexis Seidel and Morgan Lee keyed the win with two goals apiece.
