South Carroll crowned three regional champions and collected 130 points to cruise to the Class 2A West Region meet championship Friday at Oakdale High School.

The meet started Wednesday and finished Friday, and the Cavs got gold medals from Brooke Flanigan (300 hurdles), Grayson Fipps (100 dash), and Megan O’Neill (800).

Century placed fifth out of 11 teams with 80 points, and Chidinma Mba won the high jump. The Knights’ 4x400 relay team of Caroline Mastria, Megan Snyder, Sarah Simon, and Alexis Rosati took first as well.

Winters Mill’s Kathryn Hopkins won the 3,200, and the Falcons were 10th in team scoring. Liberty placed eighth.

On the boys’ side, Century took second with 135 points (Oakdale won with 190). Jalen Stanton earned golds in the high jump, 110 hurdles, and 100 dash.

SC’s Luke Anderson won the 300 hurdles, and the Cavs were fifth out of 11 teams. Liberty was fourth, and WM finished eighth.

Class 3A West meet

Recap: At Manchester on Tuesday and Wednesday, freshman Rubie Goffena won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and the Mavs took seventh out of 12 teams on the girls side. Joey Petrowicz won the pole fault regional crown for Westminster, which came in eighth out of 12.

Baseball

Gerstell 15, Glenelg Country School 2

Round: MIAA B Conference semifinals

Recap: At Ellicott City, the Falcons (15-6) collected a season-high 15 hits and advanced to their first conference final. Gerstell scored 11 runs in the third, and Chris Hagan belted a homer. He had four RBIs, and Reece Early added three. Daniel Burns had a triple for the Falcons, who play Boys’ Latin on Monday at Harford Community College and need to beat the Lakers twice to win the title.

Thomas Johnson 2, Westminster 0

Round: 3A West final

Recap: At Frederick, the Owls were held to one hit and fell short of capturing their first regional crown since 2011. Jake Sell had the lone hit while Matt Annulis struck out 11 batters over 6 1/3 innings.

Tennis

Carroll represented by four finalists at 2A West tourney

Recap: At Frederick, Liberty send two doubles teams and a singles player into championship matches to be played Saturday at Baker Park. Tyger Zan is in the boys singles final, while Dylan Gettier and Ray Woodward are in boys doubles. Girls doubles has the Lions’ Noelle Htwar and Emily Brecker. Century sent its mixed doubles team of Kaitlin Conway and Michael Napolitano into the title match.
