Carroll Varsity Roundup (May 15): Westminster girls lacrosse repeat as 3A West champions

Westminster’s girls lacrosse team got five goals apiece from Lauren Saltz and Chloe Sedlar in a 17-7 victory over Tuscarora on Wednesday, giving the Owls their second Class 3A West Region title in as many years.

Hannah Dintino and Skylar Miles had three assists each for the Owls, who improve to 12-6 and advance to the state tournament. Westminster gets Stephen Decatur either Friday or Saturday at Mount Hebron High School.

Recap: At Hagerstown, the Eagles (8-7) led the entire game before the Warriors scored with less than 10 seconds to play and prevailed. FSK was going after its first regional title since 2002. Box score information wasn’t reported.

Recap: At Smithsburg, Colton Price scored three goals for the Eagles (6-8) and Cole LaPierre added two goals and two assists.


Manchester Valley 9, Westminster 5

Round: 3A West Section 1 final

Recap: At Manchester, the Mavericks (15-5) overcame an early 3-0 deficit behind five RBIs from Tessa Boswell and a two-run homer from Kassidy Johnson. Laura Tipton clubbed a three-run homer for the Owls (11-7).


Boys’ Latin 14, Gerstell 4

Round: MIAA B Conference playoffs

Recap: At Baltimore, the Falcons (14-7) suffered their first playoff loss but remain alive in the double-elimination bracket. They’ll face either Annapolis Area Christian or Glenelg Country School on Friday.
