Carroll Varsity Roundup: Owls blast Blake for 3A West Section 1 title

Westminster's boys lacrosse team never got its Class 3A West Section 1 final started Monday because of inclement weather, but Tuesday gave the Owls a chance to compete.

They had little trouble making it to the regional championship game — Bubba Love had five goals and Patrick Stewart handed out four assists in Westminster's 19-4 victory over Blake at Western Regional Park in Woodbine.


Christian Etchison and Alec Kozlowski had three goals apiece for the Owls (15-1), who ran their winning streak to 15 in a row. Tre Price had seven of Westminster's 11 saves.

The Owls host Linganore on Wednesday in the 3A West title game.


Manchester Valley 6, Rockville 4 (8 inn.)

Round: 3A West Section 1 final

Recap: At Rockville, the Mavericks (10-9) scored twice in the eighth to pull out another playoff victory. Matt Myers and Caleb Ludwig had two hits each for MV, and Myers provided a triple. Man Valley travels to Thomas Johnson on Friday for the 3A West title game.

Gerstell 2, Pallotti 0

Round: MIAA B Conference playoffs

Recap: At Laurel, Max Friedman tripled and scored in the fifth for the Falcons (11-11), and Reece Early struck out six in five innings. Matthew Szedlock pitched the seventh for a save. Gerstell travels to Severn on Wednesday to play a fourth game in six days.


Manchester Valley 12, Blake 0

Round: 3A West Section 1 semifinal

Recap: At Silver Spring, Hailey Woerner clubbed a home run abnd Taylor Knatz tripled for the Mavericks (9-8). Knatz had three hits and two RBIs. Man Valley visits Westminster on Wednesday in the sectional final.

Oakdale 6, South Carroll 5 (12 inn.)

Round: 2A West Section 1 semifinal

Recap: At Winfield, the Cavs and Bears resumed their game from Monday and the visiting team scratched out the winning run in the 12th. South Carroll ends its season at 12-7. Box score information wasn't reported.
