Westminster racked up six doubles and got a three-run home run from Cory Moran in beating visitng Manchester Valley 10-0 in Class 3A West Section 1 semifinal action Saturday afternoon.

The Owls (12-7) scored five runs in the third inning and got to the 10-run rule by the fifth to end things early. Jake Sell had two doubles, while Ryan Clatterbuck, Tyler Buberl, Riley Warren, and Marcos Mendez had one each. Westminster hosts Magruder in the sectional final Tuesday.

Dalton Groupp had two hits and Tyler Rada doubled for the Mavericks (11-9).

Oakdale 11, South Carroll 2

Round: 2A West Section 1 semifinal

Recap: At Ijamsville, the Cavaliers (10-8) bowed out in their playoff opener. Box score information wasn’t reported.

Girls Lacrosse

Winters Mill 11, Oakdale 10 (OT)

Round: 2A West Section 1 semifinal

Recap: At Ijamsville, Madison Harmening’s fifth goal of the contest counted as the game-winner for the Falcons (5-11), who knocked out the Bears in OT for a second straight year. Kaitlyn Thompson had five draw controls and scored two goals, as did Katelyn Heffner and Megan Thomas. Winters Mill faces South Carroll in the section final Monday.

Round: 2A West Section 1 semifinal

Recap: At Western Regional Park on Saturday, the Knights (13-2) finished off their game from Friday night. Brett Kropinski had three goals and Brady Crumbacker added two goals and an assist. Kaden Ross and Luke Chmar had two goals apiece for the Falcons (8-8).

Manchester Valley 14, Magruder 2

Round: 3A West Section 1 semifinal

Recap: At Derwood on Friday, the Mavericks (9-6) cruised to their second playoff win of the spring. Box score information wasn’t reported. Man Valley visits Westminster on Monday in the sectional final.
