A seven-run first inning propelled Manchester Valley past visiting Watkins Mill 13-1 in the Mavericks’ Class 3A West Region Section 1 quarterfinal Thursday.

Man Valley (11-8) won its fourth in a row behind three hits and two runs from Dalton Groupp. Brett DeWees, Jack Metz, Eddie Meredith, and Adam Hickey each had two RBIs. The Mavericks collected 12 hits in the win, and advance to take on county foe Westminster in the next round Saturday.
