Carroll Varsity Roundup: Man Valley baseball jumps on FSK early to post county win

Manchester Valley's baseball team led 9-0 after three innings and never looked back in defeating Francis Scott Key 11-8 on Tuesday in Manchester.

Colin Shuman and Caleb Ludwig each had doubles for the Mavericks, who improved to 6-8, 4-7 in the county. Tommy Murray had four RBIs in the win.


The Eagles (3-13, 2-10) scored six runs in the ninth but could get no closer. Reese Sauter, Jarrett Hise, and Travis Fullerton had two hits apiece for FSK, while Greg Mullins and Jake Pirrung had two RBIs each.

Recap: At Eldersburg, the host Knights (13-2, 11-0 county) won for the 11th time in a row behind four hits from Dylan Breitenbach and home runs from Michael Marrale, Jeremy Lapp, and Nathanael Hibbs. Trevor Smoot had two home runs and four RBIs for the Lions (5-9, 4-7), and Peyton Scheufele also homered.

Recap: At Manchester, a three-run second inning lifted FSK (5-7, 3-7 county) to a victory. Laura Gilford had two RBIs for the Eagles. Kassidy Johnson had three hits and Jacquelyn Gouge had a pair of doubles for the Mavericks (6-7, 4-6).

Recap: At New Market, the Mavericks improved to 7-6 with their fourth win in five games on Brandon Smith's game-winner with less than 2 minutes to play.

Recap: At Westminster, Kaden Ross had two goals and three assists, and Reid Stewart netted four goals, and the Falcons improved to 4-8.

Recap: At Westminster on Monday, the Owls (11-1) won their 11th in a row as Bubba Love scored five goals to lead the way. Chase Buckwalter and Christian Etchison had three assists apiece.
