Carroll Varsity Roundup (April 30): Century baseball clinches third straight county title

Century and Francis Scott Key resumed their baseball game from April 8, and the Knights completed a 12-2 win that secured the Carroll County Athletic League championship Tuesday in Eldersburg.

Jake Diehl went 3-for-4 and Connor Breitenbach launched a home run for Century, which improved to 11-4 (9-2 CCAL). Diehl, Matt Born, and Joe Rekus each had multiple hits for the home team.

The Knights have one county game remaining, and the rest of Carroll’s teams have three or more CCAL losses. The Eagles fell to 3-10, 1-9.

South Carroll 11, Westminster 4

Recap: At Winfield, Alex Hess had three hits and three runs for the Cavs (8-6, 7-4 CCAL). Joe Westbrook scored four times and Aidan Greaney had a double. Ryan Clatterbuck and Riley Warren each homered for the Owls (10-7, 7-5), and Jonah Culbertson had a pair of doubles.

Recap: At Westminster, Conner Peters and Grant Bradt has two RBIs apiece for the Falcons (4-11).

Recap: At Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, the Patriots (9-2) split a doubleheader with the Saints. Josiah Albaugh doubled in Game 1, and Noah Reynolds hit a triple in the second game.

Recap: At Pasadena, the Lions ended their regular season with a convincing win. Alanna Wray had five goals and 10 ground balls for Liberty (7-7).

Recap: At Ellicott City, Hannah Dintino had four goals and Chloe Sedlar netted three for the Owls (7-6). Dintino added three assists, and Jessica Hise made nine saves.

Recap: At Eldersburg, Christina Haspert dominated with 13 goals and added three assists for the Knights (12-1).

Manchester Valley 24, Linganore 2

Recap: At New Market, Belle Wade had five goals for the Mavs (7-5). Abby Zeigenfuse, Maggie Azzam, Mia Alvarez, and Josey Shaffer had three goals apiece.
