Carroll Varsity Roundup (April 20): Winters Mill boys lacrosse takes down Tuscarora at Gerstell tourney

Winters Mill won its second game Saturday at the inaugural Fight in the Falcons Nest boys lacrosse tournament by defeating Tuscarora 10-1 in Finksburg.

Kaden Ross scored four goals for the Falcons (4-6) and Brady McGuire netted three. Alex Carr and Zach Urban had two assists apiece.

Manchester Valley goes 1-1 at Oakdale tourney

Recap: At Ijamsville, the Mavericks (6-4) clipped the host Bears 12-11 on a game-winning goal from Maggie Azzam. But Man Valley lost to Hereford 15-5 in the tournament title game. Mia Alvarez and Belle Wade had three goals each against Oakdale, and Josey Shaffer scored twice against the Bulls.

Liberty goes 0-2 at Oakdale tourney

Recap: At Ijamsville, the Lions (5-5) fell to Hereford 19-6, and host Oakdale 15-14. Heidi Ellis scored twice in the Hereford game, while Alanna Wray netted six goals and handed out three assists against the host Bears. Val Thompson added three goals against Oakdale.

Recap: At Edgewater, Chloe Sedlar had five goals and Hannah Dintino netted seven for the Owls (6-3) at the South River tournament. Sara Tyssowski made 12 saves. The Owls faced Broadneck late Saturday night.

Winters Mill's John Lowe is stepping down after 16 seasons as the Falcons' wrestling coach.

South Carroll loses pair to West Virginia foes

Recap: At Williamsport, the Cavaliers (3-10) fell short against Hedgesville 16-0 and Musselman 8-2. Olivia Reardon doubled against Hedgesville, and Sydni Carroll and Ava Wallace each had doubles in Game 2.
