Carroll Varsity Roundup (April 18): Saltz scores four goals, Westminster tops Winters Mill in girls lacrosse city clash

Lauren Saltz scored four goals, and Anna Ruby and Hannah Dintino added three apiece, as Westminster took care of city rival Winters Mill 16-6 in Carroll County Athletic League girls lacrosse action on Thursday at Ruby Field.

Ruby, Dintino, and Katie Pettine had two assist apiece for the Owls, who improved to 5-3 (4-1 CCAL). Sophia Barnes had a goal and an assist for the Falcons (2-5, 0-3), who trailed 7-2 at halftime. Reilly Lockwood made five saves.


South Carroll 23, Francis Scott Key 2

Recap: At Uniontown, the Cavaliers (8-1, 3-1 CCAL) cruised behind six goals apiece from Abbey Behn and Riley Behn. Abbey Behn handed out four assists. FSK is 4-4, 0-4.


Manchester Valley 8, Westminster 1

Recap: At Westminster, Kassidy Johnson homered and Jenna Miller went 2-for-4 for the Mavericks (9-3, 8-0 CCAL). The Owls fell to 7-5, 5-4.

South Carroll 11, Fallston 1

Recap: At Fallston, Stephanie Zirkenbach had a pair of triples and four RBIs for the Cavs (3-8). SC got doubles from Olivia Reardon and Haily Medrano.


Westminster 13, Manchester Valley 11

Recap: At Westminster, the Owls (7-5, 6-3 CCAL) scored eight runs in the first and held on. Tyler Buberl had two hits and five RBIs with a three-run double, and Haden Hoff added a double and two RBIs. Dalton Groupp and Matt Myers had three RBis each for the Mavericks (8-4, 5-3).

Fallston 5, South Carroll 4

Recap: At Fallston, the Cavaliers (6-5) got RBIs from Logan Miller, Aidan Greaney, and Adian Moffatt.

Winters Mill 6, Lansdowne 3

Recap: At Baltimore, the Falcons (2-8) scored three times in the sixth to break a 3-3 tie. Cade Spreitzer had two hits and two RBIs.

Liberty 14, Glenelg 13 (8 inn).


Recap: At Eldersburg, Garrett Geidel had two homers and two doubles for the Lions (6-4). Geidel had four RBis as well, while Austin Massey and Jack Merchak each drove in three.

Recap: At Winfield, the Cavs (10-2, 8-1) swept the singles points thanks to wins from Casey Reno and Jess Beddow. Karla Stonesifer and Jocelyn Snader teamed to win No. 1 doubles for the Eagles (0-9, 0-7).

Century 5, Dulaney 0

Recap: At Eldersburg, Mary Huber and Anan Gaur won their singles matches in straight sets for the Knights (6-4).

Recap: At Winfield, John Daniel won at No. 2 singles for the Cavaliers (2-10, 1-8 CCAL), who got their first county win. Brandon Bimestefer won first singles for FSK (1-8, 1-6).
