Jared Lamb and Matt Born combined on an eight-inning no-hitter, and Century edged South Carroll 1-0 in Carroll County Athletic League baseball action Monday in Winfield.
Lamb went seven innings and struck out 11 batters, and Matt Born pitched the eighth for the save and to cap the no-no. Joe Rekus had an RBI single in the eighth for the Knights, who improved to 8-3 (6-2 CCAL).
JB Berry went six innings and fanned 10 for the Cavaliers (5-4, 4-4).
Liberty 8, Westminster 5
Recap: At Westminster, Robert Bratchie had a double and two RBIs for the Lions (5-3, 4-2 CCAL), who swept the season series against the Owls. Ryan Thompson and Austin Massey each hit homers for Liberty. Cory Moran went deep for Westminster (5-5, 4-3), who had a four-game win streak snapped.
Westminster 14, Liberty 12
Recap: At Westminster, the Owls (7-3, 5-2 CCAL) won a slugfest with six runs in the seventh. Lisa Scanlon belted a two-run homer to win it. Scanlon went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, and Sophia Griffith had four hits and three RBIs. Jordan Nastos smacked a triple for the Lions (2-6, 2-4). Liberty led 8-2 in the second inning, and 12-8 in the seventh.
Manchester Valley 8, Winters Mill 1
Recap: At Westminster, Kayla Sholter went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for the Mavericks (7-3, 6-0 CCAL). Erika Bitzel had four hits and Stephanie Barksdale struck out 12. WM fell to 3-4, 2-3.
