Gerstell’s boys lacrosse team dropped its season opener last week, but the Falcons posted their first win by beating St. Maria Goretti 18-7 on Tuesday.

CJ Kovalsky collected six goals and three assists, and Johnny Hood handed out five assists for Gerstell. Drew Huber netted five goals and Declan Keeney had four. The Falcons fell to Glenelg Country School 12-2 in their opener, a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference contest.

Gerstell’s girls team is in its first foray into the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland’s A Conference. The Falcons dropped their first two games. John Carroll won 10-9 on March 12, and Bryn Mawr prevailed 18-5 on March 14.

Emily Messinese had five goals against John Carroll, and Carly Merlo came up with 12 saves against Bryn Mawr.

Meanwhile, Gerstell landed two athletes on the all-MIAA winter teams that were unveiled Wednesday. In boys basketball, senior guard Anthony Carpenter made the B Conference team, while Rami Tadros earned a spot on the B Conference wrestling team.
