Carroll Varsity Roundup: Combined effort helps Man Valley get eighth straight win in county victory over Liberty

Manchester Valley won its eighth straight game with a 70-49 defeat of Liberty on Wednesday night in Eldersburg.

Mavs senior point guard Mackenzie DeWees led the team with a triple double — 32 points, 12 steals and 10 rebounds. She also added four assists.

Josey Klingenberg, a junior, had 14 points and five steals and assists apiece for the Mavs (17-3, 10-2 county). Amelia Saunders and Ellie Boswell each scored eight points and notched three assists.

Liberty sophomore forward Rachel Thiem scored a team-high 25 points for the Lions (2-19, 1-11).

Boys Basketball

Liberty 60, Man Valley 55

Recap: At Manchester, sophomore forward Peyton Scheufele scored 14 points and Connor Stewart and Tristan Kent each had 11 points for the Lions.

Man Valley’s Bo Schene scored a game-high 28 points and had eight rebounds — Justin Shipley added 14 points for the Mavericks.
