Carroll Varsity Roundup: Owings, Lamb lift Century boys past Silver Oak

Zach Owings had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Jared Lamb added 13 points and five boards, to help Century defeat Silver Oak Academy 61-50 in boys basketball action Monday in Middleburg.

The Knights improved to 14-6 and won for the fourth time in six games, but it was their first road win since Jan. 16.

South Carroll 53, Long Reach 51


Recap: At Winfield, the Cavaliers (12-9) won for the fourth time in five games behind Matthew Gamble’s 17 points and Dylan Graham’s 16 points. Andrew Warehime chipped in nine.

JV result: LR won.

Thomas Johnson 77, Francis Scott Key 50

Recap: At Uniontown, Amir Cole finished with 19 points and five assists, and Josh Brown scored 16, but the Eagles slipped to 8-13.

JV result: TJ, 51-27.

Randallstown 63, Winters Mill 60

Recap: At Randallstown, the Falcons (1-17) came up just short after being tied 24-24 at halftime. Chandler Gentzel led the way with 25 points, while Devin Callahan and and Avery Serafin had nine each.

Fallston 68, Man Valley 60

Recap: At Manchester, Bo Schene poured in 29 points and added 11 rebounds and six steals for the Mavs (5-16). Dayne Koontz netted 10 points.

JV result: MV won.

Girls Basketball

Man Valley 54, Fallston 24

Recap: At Fallston, Erin Piper pitched in for the Mavericks (16-3) by collecting nine points and six rebounds, while Ellie Boswell scored eight points. Mackenzie DeWees finished with 21 points, 18 rebounds, seven steals, and six assists.


JV result: Fallston, 26-24.

Winters Mill 38, Randallstown 31

Recap: At Randallstown, the Falcons improved to 13-8 thanks to Kolby Brown’s 13 points and Hannah Stitely’s 10.

Loch Raven 55, Century 33

Recap: At Towson, Kelsey Weishaar had 12 points and Jess Diorio scored 8, but the Raiders used a 20-point run in the second quarter to assume control. Century (6-15) lost to C.M. Wright 51-42 on Saturday night. Weishaar had 12 points and Diorio added 10.

JV result: Century, 48-30 (C-Samantha Seledee 14); Century 45, CMW 19 (Sat.).

Glenelg 58, Westminster 42

Recap: At Glenelg, the Owls suffered their first loss of the season (18-1). Zoe Costley had 15 points, six rebounds, and two blocks, while Sarah O’Donnell had nine points and seven rebounds.

JV result: Westminster, 45-23 (W-Mallory Phillips 10).

Long Reach 67, South Carroll 39

Recap: At Columbia, the Cavaliers fell to 10-11. Bethany Fowler had 11 points and Lauren Habighorst totaled eight points, eight rebounds.
