Liberty’s wrestling team competed for the first time in eight days, and the Lions didn’t show too much rust in defeating two opponents Thursday night.

The Lions defeated host Manchester Valley 43-27 and added a 43-35 victory over Boonsboro.

Daniel Bird, Jacob Gaskin, Anthony Marsico,Jacob Slicher, Samme Nehme, McClain Butler, Max Ellis, and Noah Wienclawski all won for Liberty (22-8, 4-2 Carroll County Athletic League) against Boonsboro.

Man Valley went 1-1 on the evening, beat Franklin 51-27 and losing to the Lions. MV’s Heathe Hernandez, Hunter Green, Chad Schaffer, Thomas Chenoweth, and Adam Mattson each went 2-0 on the night.

Gaskin, Butler, and Ellis went 2-0 for Liberty, which got pins from those grapplers and Matt Slowkowski, Ryan Ohler, and Braden Puller in the MV match.

Westminster 56, Century 21

Recap: At Westminster, the Owls got their first CCAL victory (10-18, 1-4) behind pins from Marley Warfield, Nate Seibel, Tyler Beaver, and Nathan Hohman. Carson Fitzgerald, Lorenzo Lira, and Jake Eggers got pins for the Knights (6-23, 0-6).

Francis Scott Key 72, Silver Oak Academy 0

Recap: At Middleburg, the Eagles (4-16) received pins from Sam Kinloch, Quanxi Chen, and Wyatte Johns along with forfeits the rest of the way.

Winters Mill 0-2 in tri-meet

Recap: At Poolesville, the Falcons slipped to 13-7 after close losses to Hereford (41-39) and Poolesville (41-38). Individual box score information was unavailable.
