Joe Wright had 17 points to lead Westminster’s boys basketball team past visiting Mount Hebron 73-55 on Monday night.

Jacob Busic had 12 points and Terrence McDonald added 11 behind three 3-pointers for the Owls, who improved to 11-5. Westminster has won four of its last five games.


River Hill 67, Winters Mill 65

Recap: At Westminster, the Falcons (2-14) fell short but not before Chandler Gentzel poured in 41 points. That’s believed to be a single-game program record for WM. Emil Serafin added 11 points.

JV result: RH, 41-31.

Gerstell 78, Chapelgate 60

Recap: At Marriottsville, Anthony Carpenter had 14 points for the Falcons (14-10, 8-1 MIAA B Conference). Jeremiah Stanton and Ahmad Harrison had 12 points apiece.

Girls Basketball

Francis Scott Key 59, Eastern Tech 24

Recap: At Baltimore, the Eagles (16-1) had no trouble thanks in part to a team-high 19 points from Karla Stonesifer. Savannah Brooks and Bailey Mathias each scored nine, and Kennedy Cornick added eight.

JV result: FSK, 48-29 (Libby Kiley 11 points).

Mount Hebron 47, Westminster 39

Recap: At Ellicott City, Sophia Diehl had 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Owls (11-6) while Zoe Costley added 14 points.

Centennial 52, Winters Mill 46

Recap: At Ellicott City, Erin Snyder scored 22 points to pace the Falcons (7-7) and Kolby Brown had eight. McKenzie Zepp grabbed seven rebounds for WM.

JV result: WM, 60-21 (Becca Thompson 15 points, Falcons are 14-0).

Recap: At Thurmont, the Cavaliers (14-7) got pins from Anthony Bond (113), Jake Rippeon (132), and Cam Werner (138).

Man Valley 1-1 in tri-meet

Recap: At Manchester, the Mavericks (24-13) downed North Harford 77-6 but lost to Bel Air 34-30. Chad Schaffer (138), Brayden Safely (145), and Thomas Chenoweth (152) each went 2-0 for MV.

Century 1-1 at Saturday tri-meet

Recap: At Eldersburg on Saturday, the Knights (6-22) beat Catoctin 39-22 but lost to Tuscarora 63-15. Alex Ellis (170) and Thomas Morey (195) each went 2-0 for Century.

Francis Scott Key 1-1 in Saturday tri-meet

Recap: At Cumberland on Saturday, the Eagles (3-16) defeated host Fort Hill 57-16 but fell to North Hagerstown 58-21. Zach Kinloch (106), Nathan Perry (138), Blaine Robertson (160), and Wyatte Johns (220) all went 2-0 for FSK.

Atholton 53, Westminster 20
