Noah Vipond put up another monster effort and Francis Scott Key’s boys basketball team won its second consecutive game by beating Winters Mill 67-47 on Friday night in Carroll County Athletic League action in Westminster.
Vipond finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Eagles (3-10, 1-5 CCAL). Meanwhile, Chandler Gentzel scoed 27 for the Falcons (2-10, 0-6).
JV result: FSK, 40-36 (FSK-Luke Breezee 18).
Gerstell 59, Friends 47
Recap: At Finksburg, Jeremiah Stanton led the Falcons (10-8, 5-1 MIAA B) with 21 points. Anthony Carpenter collected 16 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. Gerstell lost its first conference game Wednesday against St. Paul’s.
Recap: At New Market, the Owls (8-4) were led by Zoe Costley’s 25 points and Jillian Pumputis’ 11. Sophia Diehl added 10 for Westminster.
JV result: Linganore, 44-34.
Middletown 49, South Carroll 17
Recap: At Winfield, Sam Hardy had six points for the Cavs (6-6) and Bethany Fowler scored five.
JV result: SC, 45-35 (SC-Kayla Anderson 21).
Man Valley, Winters Mill at Sub Zero Invite
Recap: At Essex, Man Valley’s Rubie Goffena won the girls 3,200 run and Katelynd Manno was second in the 55 hurdles. Manno also took third in the pole vault, as was the girls 4x800 relay. MV’s Evan Bare was third in the shot, and the Mavs’ 4x800 relay team finished third.
Man Valley took third out of 17 teams with 46 points. WM was 14th. Dulaney won with 103.5.
WM’s Jack Frantz won the 1,600 and Tad DiDio was third in the 3,200. Dylan Steinwedel took second in the shot. The Falcons were third out of 15 teams with 43 points; the Mavs finished fifth with 33 (Dulaney won with 169).
