The first half wasn’t a thing of beauty, coach George Wunder said, but Century’s boys basketball team overcame a slow start to top county rival South Carroll 46-40 on Tuesday night in Eldersburg.
Zach Owings had 16 points and eight rebounds, and Matt Huber’s three 3-pointers in the second half lifted the Knights (7-2, 3-1 county). Huber finished with 11 points, and Century won its third in four games.
Cody Parks scored 21 for the Cavaliers (3-5, 1-2), who led 15-8 at halftime.
JV result: Century, 41-13 (C-Noah Riley 20 points).
Freshman result: Century, 37-28 (C-Colby Owings 17 points).
Recap: At Westminster, the Mavericks (3-7, 1-3 county) won their third in a row behind 26 points and nine rebounds from Bo Schene. Tommy Murray and Justin Shipley had eight points apiece for MV. Chandler Gentzel paced the Falcons (1-6, 0-3) with 20 points, and Devin Callahan added 11.
