Football: Carroll schedule changing before Hurricane Florence arrives

A football rests on the grass behind the 50-yard line marker during a football game at River Hill High School on Oct. 23, 2015 in Clarksville.

Hurricane Florence is set to make her arrival, and Carroll County’s high school sports schedule is undergoing some changes to be prepared.

Week 3 of the football season was slated to take place Friday, with all seven of Carroll’s teams in action and six of them playing home games. Athletic directors are keeping their eyes on the forecast, however, and adjusting the schedule in an attempt to get the games in.

Francis Scott Key’s game against Patterson Mill in Uniontown has been moved from Friday to Thursday, and reset for a 6 p.m kickoff.

Liberty’s home game Friday against Williamsport is now Thursday night at 7.

South Carroll hosts South Hagerstown on Friday, but the Cavaliers moved up the kickoff time from 7 p.m to 4. The game may also be relocated to Western Regional Park in Woodbine if field conditions become an issue, but that decision won’t be made until Friday at noon.

The Linganore-Westminster game has been relocated to Urbana High School for Friday night at 7. The Owls will be the home team.

Manchester Valley takes on Southern of Anne Arundel County on Friday, but the game has been moved to Western Regional Park.

Century’s home game against North Hagerstown, scheduled for Friday night at 7, is now Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Western Regional Park.

Winters Mill is on the road to take on Poolesville on Friday night at 6:30.
