The annual event featured four of Carroll’s varsity squads in action — Manchester Valley was third (109.95) and South Carroll placed fourth (108.05).

Westminster’s JV team also took first (107.6) and Key was second (88).

Teams go through their choreographed routines and are judged on everything from stunt work, pyramid formation, tosses, and dance and cheer technique.

The Class 2A-1A and 4A-3A West state semifinals are set for Feb. 7 at Harford Community College, with a 6 p.m. start time.

Finalization of the brackets will not occur until late Tuesday night because Charles County isn’t holding its winter competition until Tuesday. Go to www.marylandcheercoaches.org for updated on the standings.
