Finksburg native Peter Ensor, a 2016 Gerstell Academy graduate, competed in a National AutoSports Association Championships on Sept. 15 at the Circuit of Americas in Austin, Texas.
Ensor, a junior at University of North Carolina Charlotte, where he’s majoring in motor sports engineering, won the Teen Mazda Challenge race that day and finished third in the Spec Miata National Championship.
“I was trying to stay clean at the start, but that didn’t work. That was out the window in Turn 1,” Ensor said in an online article for Speed News. “I was on the outside and somebody came into me in in Turn 1. I lost a few spots, and then it was just a battle for 45 minutes to try to get back toward the front.”
