College Basketball: McDaniel men get by Franklin & Marshall

McDaniel College Green Terror (McDaniel Athletics)

McDaniel’s men’s basketball team scored 41 points in the second half en route to a 62-59 victory over host Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference action Saturday at Lancaster, Pa.

Aaron Washington came off the bench to lead the Green Terror (3-5, 1-4 Centennial) with 22 points on 5 of 10 shooting. Washington sank four 3-pointers in the win.

Caleb Johnson and DJ Harper had 11 points apiece for McDaniel, Tony Tavares led the team with 10 rebounds.

McDaniel made 7 of 19 3-pointers, and went 17-fo-20 from the free-throw line, in the road victory.

J.C. McGrath paced the Diplomats (6-2, 3-2) with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Justin Kupa netted 12 points. F&M led 25-21 at halftime.

Women’s Basketball

F&M 76, McDaniel 67

Recap: At Lancaster, Pa., Franklin & Marshall jumped out to a 15-2 lead late in the first quarter and never trailed in a conference 76-67 victory over McDaniel College.

Anna Mondoro led the Green Terror (6-4, 2-4 Centennial) with 20 points. Caroline Ward added 17 points.

Kristin Hamill led the Diplomats (3-4, 2-3) with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Haley Pilone added 15 points and seven rebounds.

Mondoro's 20 points was a season high, and one point shy of her career high. Mondoro and Ward combined to hit 11 3-pointers. The 15 3-pointers made by the Green Terror matched the program record.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Goucher on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
