A Washington 3-pointer from the wing with 16:14 showing capped an 8-2 start to the second half, closing the deficit to four. After a Warren triple stretched the lead back to 50-43, six points from Washington keyed an 11-4 run that tied the game on a DJ Harper kickout 3-pointer with 11:21 to play. After a spinning layup went down for the Close, Ray drained a 3-pointer from the left wing just 40 seconds later to give the Green Terror its first lead since 9-8.
Washington's fifth 3-pointer of the night stretched the advantage to 60-56 but Warren canned a trey to make it a one-point game and another from Antolini put the hosts back in front by two with 7:35 remaining. Washington wasted no time, hitting a step-back 3-pointer from the top of the arc on the next possession. Johnson then picked up a loose ball and converted a three-point play with 5:47 showing for a 66-62 advantage. A pair of Antolini 3-pointers closed the deficit to 71-70 with 1:54 to play. After a turnover, Close hit the first of two free throws with 1:22 remaining to tie the game at 71-71.
Johnson drove the lane and converted another three-point play with 54.2 seconds remaining for a 74-71 advantage. With 39.2 seconds remaining, Close hit a turnaround from close range to make it a one-point game. The Bullets forced McDaniel into a shot-clock violation before Close once again caught the ball in the lane and hit another turnaround with 1.2 seconds remaining for the game-winning basket.
With Washington's outing, the Green Terror has had a 20-point scorer in each of the last four games. McDaniel tied its season high with 14 made 3-pointers, shooting 70.0 percent from long range.
