Fundamentals of Weight Training, July 22-26, led by Gerstell Academy strength and conditioning coach Sam Bogage, for rising 6th-12th graders, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost is $175. This one-week camp is for beginners to Intermediate weightlifters (0-2 years of experience.) Athletes will learn the fundamentals of weight lifting including proper body mechanics, form and technique with foundation barbell exercises such as back squat, front squat, overhead press, bench press, deadlift, and power clean. They will also be introduced to more advanced movements such as the Olympic lifts including the Snatch and Clean and Jerk. Each session will begin with a dynamic warm-up routine, followed by points of performance for exercises, 1-2 major lifts, individualized accessory work, and a static cool down.
