Read and Play: 11 a.m. For ages birth-24 months. A story time featuring lap games, tickles, bounces, and rhymes followed by a play group for meeting and mingling. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Author Visit-Lily Myers Kaplan: 2 p.m. For adults. Join the library in welcoming author Lily Myers Kaplan as she reads moving stories from her book Two Rare Birds-A Legacy of Love. Two Rare Birds is an inspirational memoir recounting a fourteen year in-tandem cancer journey and four deaths in less than four years. As the narrator seamlessly weaves stories of ancestors and archetypes she transforms her grief into a restored sense of self and purpose. There will be a Q & A at the end of the program. From 2-4 p.m.

Medicare 101: 4 p.m. For adults. Are you eligible for Medicare in the coming months? Do you already have Medicare and want to learn more? Come for a free 1 hour workshop that will include the four parts of Medicare and how they work, Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, find out if you qualify for Medicare Savings Programs (all Savings Programs are not low-income programs), free preventive services offered by Medicare, and learn how to protect yourself from healthcare fraud. Presented by Tina Herrero-Backe SHIP/SMP Coordinator.

Gourd Birdhouse Art: 7 p.m. For adults. Register for this event today. Some birds migrate to warmer climates during the winter season, while others remain in the area, and we need to help those backyard birds survive the cold weather. A birdhouse made from a gourd can be the perfect shelter. It can also be a work of art. Come prepared to create your own art. The library provides the gourds, paint and a few ideas, you provide the talent. This is a two-part program.

Creative Play Time: 10 a.m. For ages 3-8. Play is a fantastic way for children to develop their critical thinking skills. Come for an open play time where children can be imaginative and creative while exploring blocks, LEGO blocks, play dough, and more. Children age 3 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Two Dumb Dogs-The Amazing Adventures of Ferdo and Floof: 2 p.m. For all ages. Join the Carroll Community College Theater Department for an entertaining play that will delight young and old. This hilarious story is about Ferdo and Floof, two really dumb dogs who are constantly getting into trouble with their owner Roger, due mainly to their desire to break his rules. Ferdo and Floof decide to run away and seek fame and fortune on their own, but find trouble instead. Ferdo and Floof must rally their brainpower and learn that sometimes following the rules is important. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Superhero Saturday: 10 a.m. For ages 4-11. Register for this event today. Batman, Superman, Captain America, Wonder Woman ... and more. Join the library for a celebration of superheroes, with games, crafts and super snacks. Feel free to dress as your favorite superhero. Refreshments will be served.

American Girls and American History-Rebecca (1914-1916): 2 p.m. For ages 8-12. Register for this event today. Step back in time with your 19 in. doll or toy. Come experience the past with your doll through stories, crafts, food, and games. Find out what life was like for the American Girl characters in their diverse cultures and time periods in American history. Refreshments will be served. Only kids need to register. A Celebrating America program.

Read for the Record: 2 p.m. For all ages. Join the library as it participates in Jumpstart's premiere national campaign, Read for the Record, which mobilizes millions of children and adults to celebrate literacy by participating in the largest shared reading experience. On October 21, 2014, people across the country will unite to read Rosemary Wells' book Bunny Cakes, a comical story of sibling bonding and birthday shenanigans, in support of Jumpstart's mission to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Be part of breaking the world record. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Ghost Walk of Westminster: 6:30 p.m. For ages 10-adults. Register for this event today. Join the group for a ghost presentation and stroll through Westminster to visit our local ghosts and legends. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. All attendees need to register. A Celebrating America program.

Girls Love Mail Story Time: 10 a.m. For ages 2-10. Join the group for a story time about being sick and the important people who help care for us when we get ill. Then do your part to make someone else feel better by writing or decorating a handwritten letter that will be delivered to a woman undergoing breast cancer treatment. Part of our Girls Love Mail campaign. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Growing Up Wild-Animal Tracks: 10:30 a.m. For ages 3-7. Register for this event today. Join the group to explore nature and science together. Help your child discover the wonders of the world around us. Children age 3 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Show You Care: 11 a.m. For all ages. Stop by the Finksburg Branch to help show you care about someone undergoing breast cancer treatments. Girls Love Mail is a group dedicated to giving the gift of handwritten letters to breast cancer patients. The library will supply everything you need to write and decorate a letter that can make a difference in someone's life. Part of our Girls Love Mail campaign.
