Twos and Threes Together: Family: 10 a.m. For ages 2-3, with accompanying caregiver. This lively, fast-paced storytime for young children includes books, songs, fingerplays and movement.

Read and Play: 11 a.m. For ages birth-24 months, with accompanying caregiver. Join your little one at a storytime featuring interactive books, rhymes, music and movement, followed by playgroup activities which allow children to practice skills and socialize.

Medicare 101: 5 p.m. For adults. Join the library for a free one-hour . Presented by Tina Herrero-Backe Senior Health Insurance Program coordinator.

Westminster Book Discussion Group: "The Boys in the Boat," by Daniel James Brown: 6:30 p.m. For adults. Join the library for a fun and exciting discussion of each month's featured title. A Celebrating America program. This program is presented in collaboration with the One Maryland One Book initiative of the Maryland Humanities Council.

Every Child Ready to Read: Family Yoga: 6 p.m. For all ages. Join the library for a yoga program that offers a unique bonding opportunity to a child and caregiver. Play Baby Play: 10 a.m. For ages birth-24 months, with accompanying caregiver. Come enjoy a warm and inviting space where you and your child can play with toys, read a board book, enjoy music and socialize with others.

Medicare 102: 1:30 p.m. For adults. Join the library for a free one-hour workshop. Presented by Tina Herrero-Backe, Senior Health Insurance Program coordinator.

Saturday

Downtown Westminster Oyster Stroll: Noon-5 p.m. For all ages. Enjoy shucked oysters at more than 20 participating businesses along Main Street, concerts on three sound stages, oyster specials at restaurants, shop sales and more. At 12:30 and 2: 30 p.m., join the library for a trip under the Bay with Olly the Oyster. Children learn the important role the oyster plays in preserving the Bay. At 1 p.m., join the library in welcoming fisherman and author Shawn Kimbro. A frequent speaker to fishing clubs, environmental groups, and conservation organizations, he is recognized across the Mid-Atlantic region as a leading voice for sports fishing and conservation. He is the author of the popular fishing and conservation oriented blog, Chesapeakelighttackle.com and two books, "Chesapeake Light Tackle" and "The Right Stuff." In partnership with the City of Westminster.

Make Your Own American Girls Doll Clothes: 2 p.m. For ages 7-17. Learn how to use a pattern and hand-sewing skills to make clothes for your doll. Inspired by the American Girls book series, participants will look at sewing in the characters' lives and then start to sew. A Celebrating America program. Only kids need to register.

Ready, Set, School: Autumn: 1:30 p.m. For ages 3-6. An independent storytime that prepares children for school. Fun, hands-on activities will teach listening, pre-reading, math, movement, music and art skills. All adult caregivers are welcome.

Pajama Party Storytime: Autumn: 6:30 p.m. For all ages. Wear your pajamas, bring your favorite stuffed animal and listen to stories before bed. This storytime introduces stories through books, songs and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

DIY Plastic Spoon Wreaths: 6:30 p.m. For adults. Create cute, cool, and elegant wreaths out of plastic spoons. All attendees need to register.

Facial Exercise: 6:30 p.m. For adults. Register for this event. Master some techniques of facial exercise and improve the muscle tone and skin condition of your face. Individualized recommendations will be given. This workshop consists of three sessions: learning, follow-up, and assessment; register once for all three.

PBS Bookfinder Storytime: 10 a.m. For ages 2-adults. Join the library for a storytime using books found on PBS's Bookfinder service. Learn how you can use Bookfinder as a great parenting tool. Part of the Quality Digital Media Partnership series with WQED-PBS, LittleeLit.com, and Carroll County Public Library. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Writing for Children: Stories Told, Untold, and Retold: 1 p.m. For adults. In her talk, author Pamela Love will speak about the process of finding inspiration, drafting and submitting her work, using her own experiences as examples.

PAWS to Read: 2 p.m. For ages 5-17. Come to the library and read a story to a book-loving dog. Registration preferred, but walk-ins welcome. Only children need to register.

Artscapades: Adventures in Art Media: Salt Dough Sculpting: 11 a.m. For ages 3-6. Each week will be a new adventure through a different medium, from ink to collage and even printing. Children age 3 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Battle of the Books Information Session: 6 and 7 p.m. For adults. This event will feature information about the battle, the books and the rules, and give preparation tips for both the elementary and middle school battles.
