Westminster Library Branch

Twos and Threes Together: Bugs: 10 a.m. For ages 2-3, with accompanying caregiver. This lively, fast-paced storytime for young children includes books, songs, fingerplays and movement.

Read and Play: 11 a.m. For ages birth-24 months, with accompanying caregiver. Join your little one at a storytime featuring interactive books, rhymes, music and movement, followed by playgroup activities which allow children to practice skills and socialize.

Westminster Book Discussion Group: "Life After Life" by Kate Atkinson: 6:30 p.m. For adults. Join the library for a fun and exciting discussion of each month's featured title.

Family Storytime: Bugs: 1 p.m. For all ages. Share books, stories, rhymes, music and movement in a format appropriate for young children. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Medicare 101: 5 p.m. For adults. Join the library for a free hour-long workshop that will include information on the four parts of Medicare and how they work, Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, free preventive services offered by Medicare and more. Presented by Tina Herrero-Backe, SHIP/SMP Coordinator.

Needle Nuts: 6 p.m. For adults. Knitters and crocheters are all welcome to join this monthly gathering to share tips, projects and patterns.

Ringing in Spring: 7 p.m. For all ages. Ring in spring with The Carroll Lutheran School. The fourth-grade class of CLS will entertain guests with its bell-ringing and singing repertoire. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Saturday

Rockets to the Rescue: 11 a.m. For ages 7-12. The library is looking for young science fans to embark on an engineering adventure. Utilizing a few pieces of PVC pipe and recycled materials, attendees will design and build stomp rockets and create a plan of how rockets could deliver food to an island during a crisis. This program is presented by a representative of Carroll County 4-H. Only kids need to register.

Monday

Read and Play: 9:30 a.m. For ages birth-24 months, with accompanying caregiver. Join your little one at a storytime featuring interactive books, rhymes, music and movement, followed by playgroup activities which allow children to practice skills and socialize.

Ready Set School: Mice: 10:30 a.m. For ages 3-6. An independent storytime that prepares children for school. Fun, hands-on activities will teach listening, pre-reading, math, movement, music and art skills. All adult caregivers are welcome.

Count on Counted Cross-Stitch: 1 p.m. For ages 7-17. Learn basic needlework skills while making a cross-stitch piece to take home. Only kids need to register.

Teen Advisory Board: 3:30 p.m. For ages 12-17. The library is calling on teens who are looking for leadership roles in planning library programs to join its Teen Advisory Board. Meetings start with snacks at 3:30 p.m., and officially begin at 3:45. Service hours are also available. Refreshments will be served.

Poems for Popcorn: 5-8 p.m. For all ages. Celebrate National Poetry Month at the library by reading an original poem or an old favorite, and get a bag of popcorn. Refreshments will be served. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

The ABCs of DNA for Genealogy: 2 p.m. For adults. What is DNA and how is it used for genealogy? Eileen Souza, owner of Old Bones Genealogy and president of the Carroll County Genealogical Society, will discuss what test to take and how to use the results. She will also answer questions.

Rainbow Book Club: "If You Could Be Mine" by Sara Farizan: 7 p.m. For adults. You are invited to join the Rainbow Book Club in discussing and exploring a variety of LGBTQ-related titles, stories and topics in a safe and respectful environment. This program is open to adults of any sexual orientation or gender identity. The Rainbow Book Club is presented by PFLAG Westminster-Carroll County and hosted by Carroll County Public Library.

The Faith Club: Shikoku: 7 p.m. For adults. If you are interested in reading about faith and having an interfaith dialogue, the library invites you to join the discussion at the Faith Club, where a broad spectrum of beliefs will be explored in an informative and respectful atmosphere. This spring the group will be continuing its series focusing on the six-segments of the PBS documentary Sacred Journeys with Bruce Feiler, which covers the most spectacular pilgrimages in the world. A discussion will follow each segment. The program is presented by Carroll County Interfaith Council and hosted by Carroll County Public Library.
