Code It @ the Library: Scratch: 4:30 p.m. For ages 9-15. Register for this event. Create a playable game using Scratch, a popular programming language designed by the MIT Media Lab. By dragging together colored blocks of code, you can build games and animations while learning computer programming concepts. Bring a USB flash drive if you want to save your finished project to take home.

Healthy (and Happy) Holiday Eating: 7 p.m. For adults. Register for this event. Do visions of sugar plums lead to nightmares about weight gain? Fear not, you can enjoy the holiday festivities, including your favorite foods, without sabotaging your healthy habits. A health coach from WellAdvantage, an award winning Sykesville-based wellness company, will offer tips to stay on track for a healthy — and still happy — holiday season. Registration recommended, but walk-ins welcome.

Knit Wits: 7 p.m. For ages 11-adults. Beginners, please bring a light colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles to the class. If you know how to knit please come and bring your project.

An Introduction to Tai Chi Chuan: 2 p.m. For adults. Register for this event. Tai chi chuan, roughly referred to as internal martial arts, has achieved popularity in China and beyond. It is performed in a slow, relaxed, continuous, and graceful manner. Tai chi emphasizes relaxation, meditation, and harmony of both mind and body.

Saturday Story Time: Night: 9:45 a.m. For all ages. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, fingerplays, and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

The Hobbit Returns: 1 p.m. For ages 10-adults. Register for this event. Welcome back to the Shire. Come make your very own Hobbit terrarium to commemorate the last installment of The Hobbit trilogy.

Free Spirit Book Club: "The Distance Between Us," by Reyna Grande: 2 p.m. For adults. Please join us for a discussion about our chosen book. This program is presented in collaboration with the One Maryland One Book initiative of the Maryland Humanities Council. A Celebrating America program.

Jazz Pizazz with The Charles Eron Trio: 1:30 p.m. For all ages. The Charles Eron Trio will play jazz standards, contemporary, and original compositions in the cafe area of the library. Spend a Sunday afternoon listening to McDaniel graduate Charles Eron and his band members Paul Morales on electric bass, and Ben Reiff on drums. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Year-Round Family Story Time: Wild West: 9:45 a.m. For all ages. This weekly story time, open to all ages, introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
