Eldersburg Public Library March 25-31

The Eldersburg branch of the Carroll County Public Library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive, will offer the following programs this week. Registration is required only where noted. For more information, call 410-386-4488.

Twos and Threes Together: Chicks & Chickens: 9:45 a.m. For ages 2-3, with accompanying caregiver. This lively, fast-paced storytime for young children includes books, songs, fingerplays and movement.

Black-Eyed Susan Celebration: 7 p.m. For all ages. Join the library for a party to celebrate the award that encourages children statewide to read quality, contemporary literature, and then vote on their favorite. A storytime at 7 p.m. will feature nominated picture books read by local school media specialists. Other activities include crafts and face painting. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by adult.

Knit Wits: 7 p.m. For ages 11-adults. Beginners are asked to bring a light-colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles to the class. Those who know how to knit are encouraged to bring their projects.

Thursday

Read and Play: 9:45 a.m. For ages birth-24 months, with accompanying caregiver. Join your little one at a storytime featuring interactive books, rhymes, music and movement, followed by playgroup activities which allow children to practice skills and socialize.

Lawn & Garden Tips for 2015: 7 p.m. For adults. Learn how to grow a garden like the one at the Eldersburg branch. Discover environmentally sound and sustainable garden practices from Master Gardeners.

Easter Eggstravaganza: 9:45 a.m. For ages birth-6. Hop on down to the Eldersburg branch to listen to Easter stories and songs. Play a game, make a craft and participate in an Easter egg hunt at this celebration. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by adult. Only kids need to register.

Read and Play at Fairhaven: 10 a.m. For ages birth-3, with accompanying caregiver. A storytime featuring lap games, tickles, bounces and rhymes followed by a playgroup for meeting and mingling. This session is held at Fairhaven Assisted Living Center in Sykesville. The elderly residents will join in the program and visiting afterward. Only kids need to register.

PAWS to Read: 2 p.m. For ages 6-17. Come to the library and read a story to a book-loving dog. Research shows that children enjoy improving their reading skills by practice reading to animals. Struggling readers are encouraged to participate. This month will feature guest reader Nicky Ratliff, former executive director of the Humane Society of Carroll County. Only kids need to register.

Sunday

The Charles Eron Jazz Collective: 1:30 p.m. For all ages. The Charles Eron Jazz Collective will play jazz standards, contemporary and original compositions in the café area of the library. Spend a Sunday afternoon listening to McDaniel College graduate Charles Eron, along with Jon Seligman on drums and Alex Weber on bass. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. A Celebrating America program.
