New surroundings mean new dining options

A few months ago, the office in which I work — Reisterstown Family Chiropractic — moved.

We are not far from the old office, but now that we are in a shopping center instead of a free-standing building, we have had the chance to explore the many options in the shopping center that my boss and co-worker — and my boyfriend who stops to have lunch with me once in a while — are now working in. One of my first amazing discoveries was a wonderful Chinese restaurant called Szechuan Wok.

Szechuan Wok is in the Cherryvale Plaza Shopping Center. It offers carryout, dine in and delivery. Its dining room has about a dozen or so tables with anywhere between two and six chairs at each.

I really like Szechuan Wok's lunch combos, most of which are less than $7. Most lunch combos include your choice of entree, fried rice and a vegetable egg roll. My favorite lunch combo and my "usual," is the house lo mein, which includes large shrimp, beef and chicken. As with all lo mein dishes, it's noodle based with some Chinese vegetables in a wonderful, tasty sauce.

Other lunch combo entrees include chicken chow mein, sweet and sour pork, sesame chicken, chicken with garden vegetables, chicken eggplant in garlic sauce, and pepper steak with onion. Szechuan Wok offers its lunch combos from 11:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every day.

The restaurant offers great dinner combos, as well. Served from 3:30 p.m. until close, the dinner combos come with your entree choice, fried rice and a spring roll. My favorite dinner combo is the Triple Delight, which is a mixture of chicken, beef and shrimp in a tasty brown sauce with a few vegetables, served with the fried rice. Szechuan Wok offers a complete line of sushi, as well. The restaurant just introduced a series of sushi offerings called Chef's Special Rolls, which include the American roll, the dragon roll, the volcano roll, the dynamite roll, and many others.

Sushi bar entrees, served with miso soup, include the sushi regular, the sushi deluxe, the chicken teriyaki, the chirashi sushi, and more.

Szechuan Wok has a whole section of its menu called "Healthy Entrees," which includes steamed mixed vegetables, steamed broccoli, steamed tofu with Chinese vegetables, steamed chicken with string bean, and more.

Another section called "Chef's Recommendation," includes such tasty dishes as Kung Pao seafood, shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce, seafood combo, orange beef, and more.

It's wonderful to know we have such a good Chinese restaurant so close to where I work.

Szechuan Wok is at 11714 E. Reisterstown Road, in the Cherryvale Plaza Shopping Center.
