I am frequently asked what my favorite dishes are at the area restaurants I've reviewed.
I thought I would take this opportunity to write this week's column about just that — my favorite meals.
Here they are, in no particular order.
At China Moon, in Reisterstown, I really like the fried crab meat. These are little Chinese dumplings filled with cream cheese and crab meat and then fried. They are crispy and delicious.
As an entree at lunchtime I like the chicken cashew, an interesting mix of chicken pieces with Chinese vegetables and whole cashew nuts in a tasty brown sauce. During the dinner service I really enjoy the lemon chicken; this dish is only available on the dinner menu. It is chicken breast meat lightly battered and served in a wonderful lemon sauce. China Moon is at 2 Charley Drive.
I like the fish and chips at Full Moon Pub & Grill in Reisterstown. This is wonderful white Alaskan rockfish in a tasty batter served with French fries and your choice of malt vinegar, tartar sauce or, my favorite, ketchup. For dessert, I really like the deep dish apple pie — it has layers of sweet apples with cinnamon baked into a golden crust. The Full Moon Pub & Grill is at 1100 Westminster Road.
When I am at CJ's Crabhouse and Grill, in Owings Mills, I have a few favorites. One of them is the Imperial Twins, which is an open English muffin with crab imperial on each side baked to a golden finish, served with French fries. Of course for dessert at CJ's I have the amazing strawberry pie. CJ's is at 10117 Reisterstown Road.
At Main Street Grille, in Reisterstown, my favorite is the meat lovers breakfast pizza; this is a tender pizza crust with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and ham with and a special cheese blend melted on top. It's totally yummy. The restaurant serves breakfast all day long.
When it comes to ordering pizza for the kids for dinner, this is my go-to place as well. The pizzas are thin crust, with a great flavor to them. Main Street Grille is at 75 Main St.
When I go to The Grill at Harryman House, in Reisterstown, I like the crab dip appetizer, which I typically get as my entree. This is an amazing blend of crab meat, cream cheese and spices, served hot with toasted pita bread. When I'm not in the mood for crab dip, I always go for one of The Grill's awesome burgers — fresh ground beef, topped with cheese, and my choice of bacon, tomatoes, etc.
For dessert I really like the Snicker's-inspired treat — this is a mouthwatering combination of peanut butter, rice crispies, peanut butter nougat, Bavarian cream and milk chocolate. Trust me, you have to try this dessert to understand how good it really is. The Grill at Harryman House is at 340 Main St.
At The Village Kabob, in Reisterstown, I like the grilled chicken salad. This is a savory chicken breast on top of a garden salad. I admit I have only had lunch at The Village Kabob so far, but I really like this salad. The restaurant is at 11808 Reisterstown Road.
Genova's To Go, in Reisterstown, is one of our favorite "order in" places. I love the chef salad — it is loaded with salad greens, ham, turkey, salami, cheese, olives, tomatoes, etc. I also really like the big steak stromboli, which is a pizza crust loaded with sliced steak and cheese, then baked. Oh my, is it ever delicious. Genova's To Go is at 13022 Hanover Road.
At Reter's Crabhouse and Grille, in Reisterstown, I like the tropical salad, which is a garden salad with coconut shrimp on top served with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
These are just a few of my favorite meals at local restaurants.
