Support offered to Rothschild for BOE [Letter]

I find Devon Rothschild a voice for Carroll County students. The Carroll County Board of Education needs a member who is involved with the school systems as a parent, a classroom volunteer, a substitute teacher, a PTA member and as a committee member on the Community Advisory Council.

Here is a positive voice for our children representing them from the unique perspective of a parent with one child currently enrolled and two more children soon to be in a Carroll County public school. Having children in the school system provides a great opportunity to understand the issues at hand and the impact to the students and teachers within Carroll schools.

Rothschild has a high level of interest in her children's future and has demonstrated this by participating as a parent volunteer on a weekly basis for over two years. This time has provided the opportunity to become familiar with teachers and the inner workings of the classroom. Working in the classroom, she has a direct understanding of the challenges our students face now, as well as potential obstacles their future holds.

Taking her interest further within the school system, Rothschild has sought to be involved as a substitute teacher. She has worked at various grade levels, which has provided an opportunity for a broad spectrum view of the positive and negative impacts to board of education challenges and the decisions that will be made in the future.

Rothschild also volunteers her time by actively participating as a PTA member for the past two years. Her role extends from attending meetings, participating in ongoing events and organizing the annual elementary level science fair.

Last year, she was appointed to be a representative on the Community Advisory Council, which serves as a forum for public concerns, advice and communication to and from the board of education. This provides her the unique opportunity to know and understand some of the issues, concerns and the challenges of the current board of education.

This board of education candidate truly has taken the time to adequately prepare herself for the challenges the school system faces in the future. She has taken the time to know and understand every aspect of our public schools, giving her an opportunity to make well informed and sound decisions.

Rothschild is a candidate the school system needs on the board of education.
