While Mitch Edelman and others berate Donald Trump for the "circus" he brings to the Republican presidential campaign, Trump continues to lead the polls by a significant margin. It's early, and that lead will likely change. But for now, Trump is capitalizing on people's disdain for politics-as-usual with his colorful and off-the-cuff comments. He also happens to be vocalizing what a lot of people think but are afraid of saying out loud. More power to him for that.

Edelman doesn't save his disdain for Republican candidates exclusively for Trump. He also calls Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz names like "clowns" and "bottom-feeders." No doubt, Edelman gets to say what he pleases. But there's also no doubt there is a higher and more dignified road for him to take if he feels the need to mock these candidates, without resorting to the same offense he accuses those candidates of.
