Was Vince Mercurio's Aug. 29 letter regarding Michael Brown "Facts tell a different story" a satire piece?
The jury is still out on most of Mercurio's "facts," and it's very clear upon reading this letter that Mercurio regurgitated his talking points after hearing what he heard on Bill O'Reilly's own opinion-driven segment.
Brown's stature is not up for debate, but when is the "old short man" coming forward about the bullying he endured? Do we know for a fact that Brown tried to take Wilson's gun?
I have no idea what Mercurio implied by his closing statement about whites becoming the minority. Even if that does happen, so what?
Numerous surveys conducted over the years have determined that those who rely on Fox News as their primary news source are significantly less informed that those who turn to NPR, MSNBC, CNN or, amusingly enough, the late night satire of Jon Stewart and (the brilliant) Stephen Colbert.
Perhaps Mercurio and his like-minded Times readers should consider expanding their horizons before putting pen to paper and going on ridiculous diatribes that have no factual basis.
