With Memorial Day fast approaching, it would be a good time to check the condition of your flag, and replace it if necessary. The sight of those beautiful new flags flying in our community will be a sight to behold.

The Hampstead American Legion Post 200 located at 4600 Legion Lane in Hampstead has a flag disposal program and would be glad to take your worn flag. Flags can be dropped off just inside the lower level main entrance at the Post.

The American Legion will be holding a Memorial Day service at the War Memorial in the center of Hampstead on Monday, May 25 at 9 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend this meaningful service.

As you prepare for Memorial Day with your new flag, you will also be ready for Flag Day on June 14 and the Fourth of July. Remember to fly the flag on Memorial Day at half-staff from sunrise until noon and then raise it to the top of the staff until sunset in honor of our nation's battle heroes.

Our respect for the flag that so many have fought and died for is so important. As you display those bright red, white and blue colors of your new United States flag, all will see how proud we are of this great country and those soldiers who have made it possible for it to keep waving over this beautiful land.
