First of all, Republicans want to privatize everything including rail transportation, public roads, public education, water distribution systems, sewer systems, national parks and public lands and just about everything else we consider the commons. If something can't turn a dollar for multi-national corporations and the wealthy, it has no value to the Republican party. Second, Republicans don't particularly like folks in the Northeast corridor because, for the most part, they vote Democrat.Remember Hurricane Sandy? It took several months before Republicans approved an emergency aid package for those affected. Now we have budget cuts to Amtrak that affect passengers in the Northeast corridor. I'm sure Republicans in Congress, who were against emergency aid for Sandy victims, will quickly pass emergency aid for Texas and Oklahoma flood victims.
